Privacy and Data Protection Policy
1. Introduction
This privacy and data protection policy sets out how Monix Technology Limited collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We are committed to handling your information with integrity and care, ensuring that everything we do is in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and related legislation.
We believe privacy is about trust, not fine print, so while this policy covers all the legal bits, it also reflects our values. If something feels unclear or not quite right, we want to know. If we can improve, others will benefit too.
This policy applies to data collected via our website and waitlist form. It is also designed to inform our team of their responsibilities and to provide you with clear information about your rights.
2. Who We Are
Monix Technology Limited is the data controller. That means we are responsible for how your personal data is used and protected. You can contact us at:
Email: data@pipin.app
Post: 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF, United Kingdom
You have the right to contact the Information Commissioner's Office (www.ico.org.uk), which oversees data protection in the UK. However, we genuinely value the opportunity to address your concerns ourselves first. If something isn’t sitting right, please let us know. Your feedback helps us improve not just our service to you, but potentially the experience of every other person who interacts with us too.
3. What Data We Collect
We currently collect the following data through our website and waitlist form:

  • Identity Data: First name and last name

  • Contact Data: Email address

  • Demographic Data: Age range, income band, region

  • Psychographic and Behavioural Data: Financial habits, challenges, goals, app preferences

  • Marketing Preferences: Your choice to opt in or out of communications

We do not currently collect or process payment information, financial account details, or app usage data, as Pipin has not yet launched.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We collect and process personal data only when we have a lawful basis for doing so. This includes:

  • Consent: When you explicitly opt in, for example to receive email updates or marketing communications

  • Legitimate Interests: When it helps us run and improve our services in ways that are fair, expected, and respectful of your privacy

5. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:

  • Understand our audience and improve the future development of Pipin

  • Send you updates about Pipin and related content

  • Share insights and surveys (sparingly, and only when relevant)

  • Communicate marketing content, where you’ve given permission

  • Analyse aggregate trends to guide what we build next

We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you. We don’t do profiling or behavioural targeting. And we never, ever sell your information.
6. Marketing Communications
If you’ve chosen to hear from us, we may occasionally send you emails about Pipin’s development, insights, or relevant content. We keep a record of your consent so we know where and when you opted in.
You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in any email we send or by contacting us at data@pipin.app. If you do, we’ll stop contacting you for marketing purposes but may still hold on to the information you gave us, unless you ask us to delete it altogether.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies on our website to help us understand how people use it and to make sure it works well. We only use non-essential cookies with your permission. For more information, see our separate Cookie Policy.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our services are not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group. If we discover that a child has provided personal data, we will remove it from our records.
9. Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as we need to. In practice, this means:

  • Waitlist and contact data: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion

  • Survey responses: Retained for up to 24 months to inform product decisions

  • Marketing consent records: Retained until you opt out or withdraw consent

We may keep certain information for longer if required for legal or operational reasons, such as resolving complaints or protecting our legal rights.
10. Your Rights
Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access: Ask what personal data we hold about you

  • Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data

  • Erasure: Ask us to delete your data when there's no valid reason to keep it

  • Objection: Object to us using your data in certain ways

  • Restriction: Ask us to pause how we’re using your data in specific circumstances

  • Portability: Ask for a copy of your data in a common digital format

To exercise any of these rights, email data@pipin.app. We may ask you to confirm your identity to keep your data safe and ensure we’re not sharing information with someone else by mistake.
11. Data Security
We take data security seriously. Access to personal data is restricted to people who need it to do their job and who have been trained in confidentiality. Any third-party services we use are required to follow strict data protection rules.
Despite all reasonable safeguards, the internet is never fully secure. If you believe your information may have been compromised while interacting with us, please contact us immediately.
12. Third-Party Processors
We sometimes use carefully selected third-party providers (known as data processors) to help us carry out specific tasks. These might include email platforms, data storage services, or analytics tools. They only process your data under our instructions and are contractually bound to keep it safe and secure.
They are not allowed to use your data for their own purposes.
13. Data Sharing
Aside from the processors mentioned above, we do not share your data with any other party unless legally required or in very limited circumstances, such as:

  • If Monix Technology Limited is involved in a merger, acquisition, or other business restructuring

  • If required to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights

We do not sell your personal data. That’s not our business.
14. International Transfers
Your data may be stored or processed outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure that appropriate legal safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or working with providers in countries that the UK considers to have adequate data protection standards.
15. Third-Party Links
Our site may contain links to other websites. Once you click through, those websites are outside our control. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing any personal data.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we operate or comply with the law. We will always post the most recent version on our website, with the effective date shown at the top. By continuing to use our site, you acknowledge and accept any updates.
17. Contact and Interpretation
If you have questions or would like to make a request about your data, email us at data@pipin.app.
Any references to “including” mean “including but not limited to.” Communications from Monix Technology Limited staff do not override this policy unless formally stated by our legal department.
